Enter CY 2020-2021

Cyprus Tourist Guides creating storytelling

for audio Enter CY application!

The first phase of the CTGA Enter CY work has been successfully completed meeting quality and time expectations. I would like to congratulate our team for their consistency in working on time and their hard work for delivering a quality text for each topic respectfully assigned to them in this first phase. Altogether 45 texts have been completed by the six member team of the project in the last seven months accomplishing written work for the audio part of the project.

It is without any doubt that the challenges were not negligible in this unprecedented type of work produced by Tourist Guides. Nevertheless, the considerable sense of responsibility , their deep love for Cyprus and its fascinating stories told by so many different places of interest all around the island , kept the work going and being accomplished on time as planned.

The Partnership involving so many stakeholders such as the Frederic University , the University of Cyprus , the Department of Antiquities , the Deputy Ministry of Tourism , CYRIC, IMH  and more has offered us an opportunity to become aware of the role of the Tourist Guide further than just visiting places and guiding in situ.

A guide can also be a writer, a creative one if so they wish and feel able to perform as such. The challenging expectations of the project request some extra effort, relentlessness, and perseverance which are key values for professionals to develop in today’s converging world of work.

Thirst for learning through research challenging given information in tourist guide books while seeking  authentically scientific content for their text writing  are an everyday rule in this project.

The final product is an application enabling tourists in Cyprus and abroad to contemplate the full picture of sites which are often   experienced as mere ruins in real life. Such a visual support nourishes tourists’ imagination and stimulates their interest for Cyprus while giving them every reason to wish to explore further.

We are looking forward to the next phase of work!
