Curriculum Vitae of EFTYCHIA KAIMAKI
My name is Eftychia Kaimaki and I am a licensed guide of the Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), in English, French and German, following my graduation from the School of Guides in June 2006. I am a member of the Cyprus Tourist Guides Association and also a member of the Cyprus Translators and Interpreters Association. Since September 2006 I have been working as a CTO Tourist Guide whilst one of my main and most important goals is to have a direct contact with people, what I enjoy greatly doing, as well as escorting groups abroad. I studied at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, United Kingdom and obtained my BA degree in French and German Languages with Interpreting and Translating in 2000. From 2002 until 2006 I worked full time at the Lellos P. Demetriades Law Office as a Translator and Paralegal Assistant. My main activities in the office were:
- Translation of legislature, such as Draft Electricity Liberalisation Law and Regulations, Trademarks and Patents Law (Greek to English, Greek to French, English to Greek)
- Translation of Patents and Trademark Certificates (English to French, English to Greek, French to English, French to Greek, Greek to English, Greek to French)
- Translation of legal documents for the Registrar of Companies such as written responses, affidavits, court decisions (English to Greek, French to Greek)
- Conducting legal searches on Trademarks at the Registrar of Trademarks of Cyprus and on Cyprus registered companies at the Registrar of Companies of Cyprus
- Office administration
- Translation of CYFACT press releases
Since 2002 I am a freelance translator from/to Greek, English, French and German and I undertake various translations on a regular basis with the following organisations: Press and Information Office Press releases TransNation Letters, legal documents Manglis Group of Companies Legal documents, contracts Cyprian Films Company Film scripts Life Centre Marketing brochures Echo Arts Dance Studio Press releases, brochures, advertising programs Société Générale Cyprus Legal documents regarding the Ethics and Regulations of the Company Furthermore I work as an interpreter and have worked with various organisations including: BEMRS Interpretation of court hearings, ad hoc interpreter IKME (European Program Civil Society - Cypriot Bi-communal History) Interpretation of interviews French Embassy, Lefkosia Speech interpretation During the academic year 2002-2003 I worked as a part time teacher at the American International School, where I taught French at the elementary level. During my studies in England I was sent by my university as an Erasmus-Socrates exchange student to follow courses at the Université François Rabelais in Tours, France and at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany, in order to improve my linguistic and translation skills. During my studies I worked (summer jobs) as a trainee Translator at the Press and Information Office and at the Cyprus News Agency, where I had the chance to improve my skills by translating press releases and making preparations of news articles. I also worked for Photos Photiades Distributors Ltd as a trainee at the Public Relations and Advertising Department. I have also worked in the tourist sector, as a trainee in practical duties, at the Forum Intercontinental Hotel, now the Hilton Park Hotel in Lefkosia. After finishing the Acropolis Lyceum, Lefkosia, Cyprus in 1994 I studied at the Philips College, where I undertook one full academic year in Public Relations. During the year 1995-1996 I was registered with the Goethe Institute in Mannheim and Freiburg in Germany, where I studied the German language. Since 2002 I participate in choro-theatre courses and workshops and in dance performances by the Echo Arts Dance Studio of Arianna Economou.
